Custom Clay Test Batches Samples batches are available for testing custom formulas. These samples are based on a 50 pound dry batch and yield about 60 pounds of moist, pugged clay. Custom Clay Policy We will be happy to produce a custom clay body for you. We guarantee that all percentages and ingredients of your formula will be followed exactly. Custom bodies will be mixed with water according to your moisture content specifications and processed through a de-airing pugmill. To ensure purity of custom orders there is a flat fee of $152.5 for cleaning equipment and switching production lines on orders less than 4000 lbs. Minimum custom order is 2500 lbs. Price All custom clay bodies will be priced individually. Various quantity discounts will be quoted so as to afford the customer different purchasing options. Orders over 4000 lbs. will not be charged a cleaning fee. Generally, most clay bodies will follow our stock clay body and delivery prices. Please allow 2-4 weeks lead time for custom clays. Reclaim PolicyWe are happy to reprocess your clay scraps. They must be near working consistency and bagged. We will adjust the clay to your moisture content specifications and completely mix, re-pug and repackage it. Minimum amount is 4000 lbs. The charge is .12 per lb. plus freight each way. OTHER CUSTOM SERVICESSheffield Pottery can produce other types of custom formulas for you as well in addition to moist clays. Under no circumstances is custom formula information released without written consent of the customer. Custom clay bodies are only made for the customer who provides the formula to Sheffield Pottery, Inc. and are not sold to anyone else without written consent. Our stock clay bodies are proprietary formulas, and are the property of Sheffield Pottery, Inc. These formulas are not released to anyone under any circumstances. TESTING POLICY Testing of raw materials should be an integral part of ceramic manufacturing. Upon receipt of any new material, we strongly recommend that you test the material. SHEFFIELD POTTERY, INC. has no control over either the variations that may occur in the natural materials or their application. Therefore, our products are sold with the understanding that the user is solely responsible for determining suitability for any purpose and the results obtained. There are no warranties expressed or implied, regarding the user’s finished product or results. Custom Clay Disclaimer Our clays are guaranteed to be delivered to you at their intended formula and water content within the range of accuracy of our equipment. (Our mixing system is accurate to 0.2 lb. of dry materials.) Note that: The materials used to produce your clay are mined by companies that do not necessarily recommend their products to be used by potters and they do not guarantee the purity of them. Therefore we can not be responsible for any variations or contaminants that are beyond our control. Using our Dry Materials refining system will greatly improve the dependability of these clays for a minimal extra cost. Since there are so many variables on the user end, you must test the clay to be sure that it works for your application given your own techniques and environment. We can only guarantee that the clay body is what you ordered, but we cannot guaranty that it will work for your needs. Sheffield Pottery is never responsible for any failed final product. Sheffield Pottery will not be held responsible for any losses of product by our customers under any circumstance. We will be responsible for the cost of the clay purchased when the clay is not what you ordered.
