Custom watercolor portraits are a beautiful way to celebrate a beloved pet, favorite animal or special memory. After placing your order, I'll email you with a time frame for completing your painting and to talk with you about any specific requests and ideas. I love hearing the stories and meaning behind the subject of your portrait as it helps bring your vision to life! At this stage, you’ll send me several reference photos of your pet (*see “Tips for Taking Photos” for guidance included in the photo gallery). It’s helpful to have a variety of images so I can clearly see colors, details, and other defining features like expressions, markings, or textures. Portraits are on a white or solid color background. There may be an additional fee for detailed backgrounds. Pets will be painted bust only unless you specify otherwise. Every portrait is sketched by hand first and then painted with artist-grade watercolors on 140 lb. acid-free cold press watercolor paper. The final piece will be a detailed watercolor rendition based on the clear reference photo(s) provided. Once completed, I'll send you a photo of the artwork for final approval. Upon confirmation, I'll carefully package your portrait in a clear, acid-free sleeve and a sturdy cardboard envelope for safe mailing. You'll receive tracking information for your shipment. Your portrait will arrive ready for framing or gifting and will fit into a standard frame size. If your painting is being sent as a gift, I can include a handwritten card and simple complimentary gift wrapping. Just add this information at checkout, along with the message you'd like to include. For those located within 6 miles of my studio in the village of Dryden, New York, local delivery or pick-up is also available. Simply select this option at checkout. How long will it take to finish the painting? Each portrait is made-to-order with care, in order to capture the unique personality of the subject. Depending on how many paintings I have ahead of yours, it may take up to several weeks..
