This rug was designed by Mina and will be handwoven by the artisans of Anzal, the same women’s weaving association that Mina is part of. Anzal is located in the Siroua region, where the High Atlas meets the Anti-Atlas Mountains—home to the Aït Ouaouzguite tribe, who have cultivated a rich tradition of rug styles that reflect both refined craftsmanship and practical design. This particular piece blends Flatweave and embroidery, resulting in a rug that is both textured and deeply symbolic. A Flatweave base forms the foundation, while Amazigh motifs—hand-stitched and embroidered—tell stories of protection, strength, and continuity, passed down through generations. The rug will be woven from 100% “live” Moroccan wool, carded, brushed, and spun entirely by hand. Using all-natural spices and plants, our third-generation dyer applies a batch-dyeing technique that creates a rich, mottled finish—ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
