Codonopsis Root, commonly known as 党参, is a traditional dried ingredient widely used in Chinese cooking and herbal soups. Several grades are available based mainly on the roots’ thickness, appearance, uniformity and overall selection. Soak for approximately 10–15 minutes if preferred, then add to soups or broths and simmer thoroughly with the other ingredients.
