This is called the U.S. Revenue Cutter flag, a precursor to the modern Coast Guard flag. This style of flag was used by the U.S. Treasury Department's fleet, the Revenue Cutter Ser vice, from 1799 until 1915, and later by the Coast Guard until 1953. The flag features a blue eagle emblem with a shield on its chest, surrounded by an arch of 13 blue stars on a white field, paired with 16 vertical red and white stripes. This particular flag is a vintage reproduction from the 1960s. These are very rare, even as reproductions as they are no longer manufactured. It has light patina. Preserved under UV-protective, reduced glare glass with acid-free matting. Measures 12 x 14 inches including the frame. Frame is a soft gold leaf. Show more
