Author Azuma & Kurohara, 1967 Genus Nesiocypraea Species midwayensis Locality Balut Island, Philippines, fresh dead in tangle nets at 200 meters depth Grade F++ Size 25.2mm This specimen was fresh dead collected but remains in very good condition, retaining beautiful color and pattern, and almost all of its gloss. Displays very well in-hand and remains a striking example of this exceptional species. In the photos, it looks like there is some straw-like debris inside the aperture of the shell - that is just loose debris, it could easily be removed but I didn't want to take any risk of damaging the shell. Nesiocypraea midwayensis has become increasingly scarce on the market. GEM specimens are now selling for over $5,000! An excellent opportunity to add an example of this extremely sought-after species to your collection!
