CYC PHOTON DIY MIDDRIVE E-BIKE KIT The CYC Photon Gen 2 250W–750W Mid-Drive E-Bike Conversion Kit is one of the most concealed and robust mid-drive kits on the market, ideal for off-road and recreational riders tackling steep hills and rugged terrain. It fits most standard bicycles, including modern (e.g. BB92), old-school, and fat-tyre bikes. Unlike in-wheel or hub motors, the mid-drive design uses your bike’s gears for massive torque while keeping weight low and centred for better handling. Its high-clearance design is perfect for rugged terrain and downhill riding. The kit pairs with any 36V–52V battery and is capable of delivering speeds of 45+ km/h when paired with a 52V battery. A battery is not included and must be purchased separately. The CYC Photon is one of the best kits available, offering a level of refinement rarely seen in the market. Designed in Hong Kong, it features torque sensing for a seamless riding experience, while still allowing full power access anytime with a twist of the throttle. It can be supplied with either a twist (motorbike style) or thumb throttle for ease of use. Once installed, the Photon mid-drive motor tucks neatly behind your cranks at the bottom bracket, creating a clean, discreet, yet incredibly powerful setup. It pairs with any 36V–52V E-bike battery, though 52V is recommended for maximum fun. Battery is sold separately and must support up to 750W power output. A common topic with mid-drive kits is the need for regular maintenance of your chain and drivetrain. Ensure your chain is properly aligned during installation, and regularly check, lubricate, and replace it as needed. Also, inspect your rear cogs to ensure they’re intact and free from shark-fin wear. Wear and tear, such as chain drops, chain stretching, and worn gears, is not covered by warranty and should be maintained by the customer. We recommend carrying a spare chain and quick link on every ride to avoid being stranded. Damages occurring due to incorrect fitment are not covered by warranty. Please contact us in case of being unsure of the correct installation or operation of the kit beforehand. Please take care to properly fit and protect the wiring coming out from the motor/controller assembly as this can be damaged if left exposed near the chain or bottom of the bike during off-road riding. This type of wiring damage is not covered by warranty. If using the bike in full power mode, it is highly recommended to be familiar with your local State laws and regulations. The use of the kit is your responsibility. The kit is not waterproof and therefore should not be immersed in water. Although this kit is renowned for being well designed and long-lasting, damages occurring from incorrect use of the kit is not covered by warranty. The kit is not suitable for impacts with logs, rocks or other objects or exceeding the recommended weight limit. NOTES Australian regulations require that the kit does not exceed 250W continuous power and 25 km/h on public roads and paths.
