Cyclamen coum is a highly resilient woodland tuber that serves as an ecologically critical lifeline, producing stunning bright magenta-pink flowers straight through the ice and snow to feed starving queen bees. It features beautiful, low-growing rounded leaves heavily mottled with intricate silver and pewter patterns, providing phenomenal ground cover during the colder months before disappearing entirely. It is genetically wired for deep, cool shade and looks absolute best planted in sweeping drifts in soil heavily amended with rich, broken-down leaf mould. You must keep the earth consistently moist while it is actively growing and blooming. However, the exact moment the foliage goes completely dormant and vanishes in the summer, you must stop watering entirely, or the sleeping tuber will rapidly rot into a black, soggy mush.
