Cyperus helferi grows long, narrow, bright green blades from a central rosette — a true sedge rather than an eelgrass, so it stays as a defined clump instead of running across the tank. Unlike Vallisneria, which runs across the substrate and colonizes, Cyperus stays where you plant it and thickens from the base. That makes it far easier to control in a designed layout. Plant it where there is flow. The long flexible blades move with current, and that motion is most of what you are buying. Feed at the roots. It is a strong root feeder and grows short and pale in inert gravel. Propagate by separating side shoots once they have their own roots. It often arrives compressed and pale from packing.
