Vivid pink can follow the main veins on juvenile foliage, then recede as the blades broaden and become predominantly green. White, green, brown and pink mottling continues along the heavily armed petioles, where prickles merge into characteristic oblique combs.Basal shoots eventually produce a clump of large crowns capable of reaching about three metres high.
