The Cyrus 40 CD Player is the result of decades spent refining the art of compact disc playback. Built on Cyrus' proprietary Servo Evolution platform, it reads discs with extreme accuracy the first time, reducing the need for error correction and lowering the noise floor to near silence. This commitment to precision has made Cyrus players a reference point for digital performance around the world. The 40 CD carries that legacy forward with the most advanced DAC Cyrus has ever implemented, along with an entirely re-engineered power supply that separates high-speed digital, sensitive analog, and servo control signals into discrete sections. Every element is housed in the 40 Series aluminium chassis and finished in brushed black with a full-color 3.5-inch display. For those who still believe in the fidelity and satisfaction of physical media, the 40 CD delivers an experience that feels purposeful, transparent, and deeply musical. Key Features Servo Evolution Technology: Precision disc reading with ultra-low noise floor ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC: Delivers 32-bit resolution with HyperStream IV architecture Isolated Power Supply Design: Nine-stage regulation with dedicated supplies for each circuit type 40 PSU Compatible: External power upgrade available for even higher performance Full-Color Display: 3.5" high-resolution TFT screen for at-a-glance control Elegant Chassis: Machined aluminum 40 Series enclosure with anodised black finish 5-Year Warranty: Cyrus products are backed by an industry-leading warranty Servo Evolution Disc Reading At the core of every Cyrus CD player is Servo Evolution, the proprietary disc-reading technology developed nearly a decade ago and refined with each generation. Rather than relying on aggressive error correction after the fact, Servo Evolution focuses on extracting data from the disc as accurately as possible on the first pass. The servo control system continuously adjusts the laser tracking in real time, adapting to disc imperfections, minor warps, and surface marks before they become audible artifacts. The result is an almost silent noise floor that lets the music emerge from a genuinely black background. This approach is why Cyrus CD players are used as reference transports in professional and high-end audio setups worldwide. Digital Performance At the heart of the 40 CD is the ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC, equipped with HyperStream IV Dual DAC technology. This chipset is renowned for its clarity, low noise, and dynamic range. Cyrus has meticulously optimized every circuit and layout to ensure digital playback is as transparent and emotionally engaging as possible. Power Supply Design CD playback places unique demands on power management. The 40 CD addresses this with nine individual stage regulators that distribute power according to demand throughout the player, segmenting the internal circuits into discrete domains. The high-efficiency digital control stage, servo motor circuitry, and analog audio paths each receive their own independently regulated supply. This segmentation prevents noisy digital switching and motor-driven interference from reaching the sensitive analog output stage. The result is a blacker background, reduced distortion, and more faithful musical reproduction. Chassis and Interface The 40 CD shares the same precision-milled aluminum enclosure as every 40 Series component, with an anodised brushed black finish and compact 220mm-wide footprint that stacks neatly with the rest of the lineup. The 3.5-inch full-color TFT display provides clear track information, playback status, and settings navigation at a glance. Dual analog outputs (line-level RCA) and both coaxial and optical digital outputs give you flexibility to connect directly to an amplifier or route the digital signal to an external DAC. Firmware updates are handled via RJ45 Ethernet or USB-A, ensuring the 40 CD can be kept current without any fuss. External Power Upgrade The 40 CD is designed to grow with your system. Adding the 40 PSU external power supply takes performance even further by delivering multiple digitally regulated voltage rails that reduce electrical noise and enhance dynamic expression. With the PSU handling the CD motors and master clock, the internal supply focuses solely on the digital domain, reducing interference and jitter. The audible gains include greater imaging precision, improved note articulation, and deeper bass control. A single cable connection makes the upgrade seamless. Build Your Cyrus 40 Series System The 40 CD pairs naturally with the Cyrus 40 Amp integrated amplifier for a complete disc playback system. Add the Cyrus 40 ST music streamer for high-resolution streaming alongside your physical media, or the Cyrus 40 PPA phono preamplifier to bring vinyl into the same system. The 40 PSU external power supply upgrades any component in the range. Every 40 Series product shares the same chassis dimensions, display style, and upgrade path. The 40 Series also integrates with the new full-width Cyrus 80 Series, letting you mix compact specialists with full-width power.
