The M752 was a full-tracked, self-propelled launcher developed to carry and fire the MGM-52 Lance, a short-range tactical ballistic missile that formed a key part of NATO's Cold Wa r theatre-level fire support, capable of delivering conventional or tactical nuclear warheads well behind enemy lines. Entering service with US Army field artillery units in the early 1970s, the Lance system replaced the earlier Sergeant and Honest John missiles.
