The M7 Priest was the United States Army's primary self-propelled 105mm howitzer of the Second World War, built on the reliable M3 medium tank chassis and instantly recognisable by the raised "pulpit" ring mount for its .50 calibre machine gun — the feature that earned the vehicle its nickname among British troops.
