Known to its crews as the "Stummel" ("stump"), the Sd.Kfz.251/9 mounted the short-barrelled 7.5cm KwK37 L/24 gun, the same low-velocity infantry-support weapon originally fitted to early Panzer IVs, in a simplified open mount on the front of the half-track's fighting compartment.
