Formed in the North African desert in 1941 by David Stirling, the Special Air Service pioneered hit-and-run raiding tactics using small groups of heavily armed jeeps to strike deep behind Axis lines against airfields, fuel dumps and transport columns. This set marks the 80th anniversary of the SAS's founding, depicting the lightly built, machine-gun-laden desert raiding vehicles and the small, close-knit crews who drove them hundreds of miles across the open desert. The set includes three separate vehicles along with commander and crew figures, giving modellers enough material to build a complete raiding patrol rather than a single vehicle. As a Dragon Smart Kit, engineering is refined for straightforward assembly and accurate fit, while still delivering crisp weapon and stowage detail - jerry cans, spare fuel and water, mounted Vickers K machine guns and personal kit typical of SAS desert patrols.
