HMS Sheffield (D80) was a Type 42 guided-missile destroyer of the Royal Navy, tragically remembered as the first British warship lost in action since the Second World War. On 4 May 1982, during the Falklands War, she was struck by an Exocet anti-ship missile launched from an Argentine Super Etendard, an attack that fatally damaged the ship and claimed twenty of her crew.Dragon's 1/700 kit reproduces Sheffield's Type 42 profile in her Falklands-era fit, including the forward Sea Dart missile launcher, Type 965 long-range air-search radar lantern and low, flush-decked hull, using slide-mould parts to render the fine antenna and mast detail accurately.Photo-etched railings and mast components are included along with decals for pennant number and deck markings, with the option to build waterline or full-hull.A historically significant subject for Falklands War collectors and anyone building a 1/700 Royal Navy task force fleet.
