Inspired by Heraclitus's concept that "all that is observable flows continuously," Daan Paans explores how objects and phenomena constantly transform across time under the influence of a complex set of factors. In this richly illustrated volume, fascinating case studies ranging from extinct aurochs to sci-fi meteorites and Indiana Jones's Golden Idol, Paans reveals how archetypal forms continue to shape contemporary visual culture. His multimedia approach combines photography, video, 3D renders, and sculpture to examine humanity's evolving relationship with ecology, offering profound insights into the fluid nature of time and space. Daan Paans (1985) studied photography at the St. Joost Academy in Breda. In his artistic practice, he studies processes of imaging that have developed throughout history in an original way, in order to gain insight into how our view of the world has been shaped and formed. His research into these cultural evolutions gives us insight into possible original ideas of being human and the relationship we have with ecology. His projects require long-term artistic research, with the end result varying in different media.
