Reproduced from the film 花樣年華 In the Mood for Love. Beneath the dreamy glow, Maggie Cheung’s gentle poise revealed just how stunning a woman can look in a qipao. In the 1950s and 60s, the qipao flourished in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong-style qipao was tailored to fit perfectly, combining elements of Western cutting techniques and Eastern elegance. It was more convenient to wear and move around in, making it suitable for both daily life and work. Since the film is set in the 1960s, the qipao designs worn by Maggie Cheung are classic Hong Kong-style qipaos of that era. This particular qipao is inspired by one of those styles, and has been carefully reimagined through multiple revisions. Aside from slightly lowering the collar height by 5cm to better suit daily wear, this Qipao is aimed for a 1:1 reproduction in all other aspects.
