Every Dame Jeanne is hand-woven and entirely one of a kind! Your Dame Jeanne is delivered in a box sized to fit it. About ten years ago, a friend of mine bought up a whole stock of glass demijohns wrapped in rattan — some thirty dusty bottles, full of hay and earth, that he lined up in his garden for me to clean. He had stripped away the worn rattan casing, setting it aside, rigid and openwork. I loved this hollow form, and it became the starting point for my Dame Jeanne. From there came the question of a light, rigid material, and a technique that would hold its shape perfectly — and so this finely knotted, openwork weave was born.
