He immigrated to Australia in 2004, where he completed a Bachelor of Visual Communication (Illustration) at the University of South Australia. Upon graduating in 2007 with the Design Institute of Australia’s Student of the Year Award, Withey shifted his focus toward a career in visual arts. Since then, he has presented more than 17 successful solo exhibitions. His work explores contemporary social issues—including consumerism, environmental concerns and personal freedom—yet remains infused with playful humour and a sense of humility. This balance keeps his art approachable, unpretentious, and engaging for a wide audience. As Withey’s practice continues to evolve in both technique and thematic depth, he stands out as an artist well worth watching.
