I was in the San Juan Mountains in October, waiting for sunrise on a canyon floor while the rims were already lit. Sunrise apps do not account for deep canyons. My plan was to finish before work. When the sun finally arrived, my first meeting was starting. No cell service. Starlink in the truck made both possible. Most aspens tip a little at the base from saplings searching around snow for early light. This grove had significant dramatic bends, each trunk aligned with the next, like they were dancing in unison. I tracked the sunburst down the bark while talking to my software team, waiting for a light breeze to lift the outer branches without blurring the trunks. Fall aspens are not subtle. Neither is this photograph.
