That might be because DJ-programmer Badmarsh and instrumentalist Shri bring another vocalist and percussionist on the road with them, but it's more likely that their sound--an exceedingly organic blend of dance-floor beats and Indian sounds (tabla, flute)--really comes alive in a club. None of that should imply that Dancing Drums is a sterile listen; rather, the enveloping sounds, the funky bass lines, and the use of a lot of sound loops make the album a relaxing experience--but one with a beat, too.
