Dave Harrington and Nicolas Jaar first emerged as Darkside in the early 2010s, building a devoted following with their 2013 debut *Psychic*, a slow-burning fusion of deep house, kr autrock, and cosmic Americana that felt genuinely unlike anything else happening at the time. *Spiral* arrives nearly a decade later, and the patience it took to get here is audible in every groove, a duo that clearly refuses to force what isn't ready. In the summer of 2018, DARKSIDE's Dave Harrington and Nicolas Jaar rented a small house on Lenni-Lenape territory, present-day Flemington NJ, where the group spent a week, making a song a day. While it would take another year and a half to complete their second album, six songs from the band's new record Spiral were written and recorded during this initial session.
