DayDream Colombian EA Decaf Coffee: Coffee Profile and Brewing Guide DayDream is a Colombian decaf created for coffee drinkers who want a flavorful cup with substantially less caff eine. Sourced from Huila and processed as a washed coffee before ethyl acetate decaffeination, it is roasted to a medium-light degree. The cup is intended to retain origin character, lively acidity and sweetness rather than tasting flat or defined only by roast. Ethyl acetate decaffeination is often called EA or sugarcane decaf because ethyl acetate can be derived from sugarcane. The process removes most caffeine from green coffee before roasting. “Decaf” does not necessarily mean absolutely caffeine-free, but it allows many people to enjoy coffee later in the day with much less caffeine than a standard cup. Coffee Details Origin or composition Huila, Colombia Process or roast Washed; ethyl acetate decaffeination Tasting direction Medium-light roast Format Silky body, peanut and sweet sugarcane finish Flavor, Acidity and Body DayDream opens with a silky-smooth body and vibrant acidity, then moves toward peanut and a sweet sugarcane-like finish. The medium-light roast keeps the cup clean and lively. A balanced extraction should connect the acidity to sweetness; if it tastes sharply sour, grind finer, while excessive dryness or bitterness generally calls for a coarser grind. Brewing Recommendations For pour-over, begin near 1:16 with a medium-fine grind and an even bloom. Decaf can be more soluble and sometimes produces more fines, so watch drawdown and avoid unnecessary agitation. Automatic drip works around 60 grams per liter. Espresso can start near a 1:2 to 1:2.2 ratio with careful puck preparation. Keep dose and yield consistent while adjusting grind. Dialing in the cup Record dry dose and water or beverage yield so the recipe can be repeated. Correct under-extraction with a slightly finer grind or more contact time. Correct bitterness or astringency with a coarser grind or lower extraction. Use drawdown and shot time as diagnostic feedback rather than fixed quality targets. Change one variable at a time and taste again as the coffee cools. Who Should Choose This Coffee? Choose DayDream for afternoon or evening brewing, decaf espresso, or anyone seeking a Colombian cup with sweetness and texture rather than a dark, roasty decaf profile. Format, Rest and Storage This coffee is roasted and ready to brew in the selected format. Whole bean protects aroma and gives better dialing control. Keep it sealed away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Equipment Pairings and Related Coffee Browse more specialty coffee, compare home coffee grinders, or explore espresso machines.
