Douglas DC-7 Pan American Airlines airplane model. The DC-7 was the final propeller-driven transport aircraft produced by Douglas. Introduced in May 1953, it entered service with A merican Airlines in November 1953. It was the first transport capable of flying westbound across the United States the prevailing winds. Douglas manufactured DC-7s and delivered last one in 1958. Most DC-7s were later modified as freighters or scrapped, while some were retained for air, aerial firefighting and satellite tracking.
