Recorded during a period of deep personal transition, Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard wrote much of the material independently across separate continents. This isolation led to a remarkable creative purity; engineered and produced by Perry at his Quivvy Church studio in Ireland, it was the first DCD album where the duo played every instrument themselves, without guest musicians. The result is a landmark of "audiophile" production, beloved for its immense dynamic range and deep, resonant bass.
