Deanna is a fig that originally comes from the breeding program at University of California, Davis. The program, headed by Ira Condit, was established to develop improved fig varieties. Deanna is particularly desirable for its large size. The trees will produce a large breba crop and main crop, which means more delicious figs for enjoying. In addition to large figs, Deanna trees grow 5-lobed leaves with long fingers. The trees are cold hardy and able to be grown in-ground in many zones. Inside is amber flesh that can also have some slight red or pink color to it. Deanna figs are sweet with a complex sugar flavor. Many consider this a favorite honey fig. While some growers say this variety can be prone to splitting, there are many desirable qualities about Deanna to try for yourself. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
