The Debrisoft Debridement Pad is a sterile monofilament fibre pad used for the mechanical debridement of superficial wounds. It absorbs and lifts exudate, debris and dry skin keratoses during debridement so the wound bed can be assessed and dressed. This 10cm x 10cm pad is a product for debridement, which means it is used to clean the wound and then removed rather than left in place. It suits clinicians and trained carers managing superficial wounds as part of a wound-care plan. How it works The pad is built from soft monofilament fibres with angled tips. Lohmann & Rauscher describes the angled fibre tops as actively loosening debris and exudate from the wound, while the fibres absorb exudate, debris and skin keratoses during debridement. The manufacturer reports rapidly visible results within 2 to 4 minutes of use. The fibres are designed to clean the wound bed gently, with the aim of limiting disturbance to newly formed tissue.
