The artist was inspired to create a series of twelve landscapes, each representing a specific month of the year, incorporating subjects and colours that evoke personal associations with each month. Each painting was completed en plein air, in a single sitting, allowing the artist to capture the essence of the scene as it unfolded in real time. Completing the final painting in this series has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. Each month, the artist ventured outdoors in all types of weather to capture a particular image on canvas using oil colours, much like the Impressionists did. The memories of each location and the sensations of those days remain vivid—whether it was the cold or warmth in the air, the company of others, or the emotions felt in those moments. The artist is deeply grateful for the twelve distinct experiences and the lessons learned throughout this project. The painting titled "December" was completed in Richmond, depicting the River Swale, the Green Bridge, and the historic Richmond Castle in the background. The Green Bridge, with its inviting arches, frames the river’s gentle flow, creating a picturesque scene. The harmony between the river, the architecture, and nature’s beauty is striking. Richmond Castle adds a historical layer to the landscape, serving as a reminder of the rich heritage that has shaped the area.
