They're not for building things.. at least not anything recognizable as anything. These blocks are defiantly open-ended: there's no end goal, they're not puzzles, there's no instructions, no solutions, no challenge cards, and no thing you're supposed to make. We have enough of those prescriptive pressures in our daily lives already. These simple shapes wage a quiet rebellion against all of that. Inspired by the epic optimism of the art deco movement, and the critical perspective of deconstructionism, Aroundsquare's Deco blocks present a fresh approach to creative play. The different designs allow for building outwards in every dimension, and the creation of structures which are both architecturally and geometrically interesting, as well as visually pleasing. Minimalist and curious, they are equally at home on the coffee table, the book shelf, the executive desk, and the kindergarten floor. Whether you're young or old, and playing alone or with others, expect yourself to become lost in the moment, stacking and arranging these weird little pieces into abstract patterns, monumental structures, and logic defying sculptures. All Deco blocks are made from high grade silicone, making them an excellent desk toy and travel game. They are great for kids 3 and up, all the way up to us adults, and especially anyone even slightly design minded. The materials have been tested for compliance with all relevant safety standards; however, the small pieces present a possible choking hazard for small children, so please exercise appropriate care. The blocks ship in a gift box, with an explanatory leaflet, and a handy carry bag. Untitled 1 If there's a flagship set for Deco, it's probably this one. Untitled 1 is a collection of three different shapes, which come together in curious and interesting ways. The set consists of 16 pieces (4 large, 4 medium, 8 small).
