Dee Shackles are used often in shade sail installations across Australia for connecting chains and securing hardware. There are a few different types, all of which are available in AISI 316 marine grade stainless steel. 'Captive pin' means that the pin cannot be fully removed from the shackle like it can be with a Removeable Pin. Cast vs Forged: When a shackle has been cast, it means it has been heated until molten and poured into a mould in the shape of the shackle. It is then left to cool and harden. A forged shackles means that the metal has been physically forced into another shape while in a solid state. This generally makes the metal tougher and gives it a higher breaking load.
