Contemporary Landscape Collage from the Derwent Valley Heritage Way – A5 Series This artwork is part of a unique A5 series of contemporary landscape collages inspired by a 70-mile walk along the Derwent Valley Heritage Way in Derbyshire. For every mile of the journey, I created an observational reportage drawing, which later evolved into more textural studio collages. The series traces the shifting landscapes along the River Derwent, capturing the subtle transitions in terrain while echoing the region’s layered industrial history and raw natural beauty. As with all my work, this piece incorporates hand-made paints created from natural pigments gathered during the journey. Some of these inks may gently shift or fade over time—a quality I embrace as part of the living, evolving nature of the materials.
