From Story to Form Lushu appears in the Shanhaijing as a mountain creature with a horse-like body, tiger-patterned markings, a red tail, and a singing voice. The same account gives its hide an auspicious association with descendants and family continuity. Jambhala drew the bracelet from two parts of Lushu’s image that naturally belong together: pattern across the body and continuity beyond one generation. The double-wrap construction makes repetition part of the piece itself. Black-and-white agate patterns change from bead to bead, while red and gold details mark a few clear points along the longer line. We did not copy the creature’s body literally.
