Delicate Omens is Folias Duo’s culmination of seventeen years of traveling, performing, and composing. Released on their own Folias Music label, this seventh album features five wo rld premiere recordings of compositions written during the duo's travels in rustic cabins across the United States and Canada. Bergeron's Emerson is a mysterious three-movement piece for alto flute and guitar, inspired by the essays of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Maret's Creole Ballet is a collection of six stylized dances that reflect the duo's experience as tango dancers and their love for Argentine folk music. Bergeron's Uncompahgre, a three-movement work inspired by the Southern Colorado region of the same name, showcases the virtuosity of both Bergeron and Maret on their respective instruments. The album concludes with Bergeron's solo guitar composition, which musically portrays the duality of fantasy and reality in "Don Quixote," followed by Maret's jazz-influenced Angel Forever for alto flute and guitar, a piece she describes as a fusion of Pat Metheny and Astor Piazzolla walking into a bar together.
