Dendrobium devonianum is found in the Chinese Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, southern China and Vietnam in thick montane forests on tree trun ks as a medium sized, cool to warm growing epiphyte at elevations of 500 to 2000 meters with pendulous, cylindric, slender, slightly fleshy, subbranched, many noded stems carrying narrowly ovate-lanceolate, leathery, clasping sheath base, long acuminate leaves where it blooms in the late winter and spring with an erect to spreading, 30 to 32.5 cm long, many [12 to 18] flowered inflorescence with long-lived, fleshy, fragrant flowers arising from the nodes near the apex of leafless, to 1m long, canes.
