Olga Ella’s patchworked denim garments are works of textile art, and this one-of-its-kind jacket is no exception. It began life as a denim workshirt and has been reworked into a li ghtweight, open-front jacket with a shawl collar. Two pockets appear below the ghost of a former chest pocket, and additional blocks of denim are appliquéd and patched in to create a patchwork diamond on the back. The denim pieces involved are different shades, and most or all are from other vintage garments. All of the wear and patina in the fabrics contributes to the unique character of the piece.
