The dazzling Dendrobium orchid is one of the largest and most diverse orchid groups, with thousands of varieties found across the world — including several stunning species native to Australia and New Zealand. These orchids are generally evergreen, producing slender, cane-like stems crowned with sprays of flowers that can number up to 50 per stem. Their blooms vary greatly — some are sweetly perfumed, others feature large, showy petals or tiny, intricate flowers in a rainbow of colours. These magnificent plants are “epiphytes”, meaning they grow on the surface of other plants and get their water and food from the air, water and plant debris around them. Feed yearly with organic orchid plant food. Soil: Well-drained, specialised orchid potting mix. Conditions: Filtered light, indoors, avoid direct sun. Tropical, sub-tropical and temperate climates.
