With Construction Time Again, Depeche Mode pushed their sound into bolder, more industrial terrain—marking a major creative leap and the debut of Alan Wilder as a full-time member. Released in 1983, the album introduced a sharper sonic edge, while keeping the band’s knack for melodic hooks intact. The standout single “Everything Counts” took aim at corporate greed, becoming a fan favorite and live staple. From the metallic rhythms of “Pipeline” to the synth-charged urgency of “Love, In Itself,” this album cemented Depeche Mode’s status as more than just synth-pop pioneers—it proved they were innovators.
