Design Master Class Overview Oxford Instructor Laura Berlage is excited to offer her master class on designing your own artwork at the Oxford Rug Hooking School! The overall class is comprised of five separate modules, each focusing on a different theme, and includes an accompanying digital collection of essays and exercises. The individual modules are: Module 1- Developing a Designer's Eye- Wed. Feb 3, 10, 17, 2027 (required before taking other modules- registration opening soon) Module 2- Fundamentals of Composition- Wed. March 10, 17, 24, 2027 (registration opening at a later date) Module 3- The Story in the Image- Wed. April 7,14, 21, 2027 (registration opening at a later date) Module 4- Color Fluency- Wed. May 5, 12, 19, 2027 (registration opening at a later date) Module 5- Makability- Wed. June 2, 9, 16, 2027 (registration opening at a later date) It is essential for students to take the first module- Developing a Designer's Eye- before any of the others. Each module is sold separately. The Design Master Class is inspired by Laura's unique practice in the mediums of drawing, tapestry weaving, punch needle rug hooking, painting with wool needle felting, beading, embroidery, and more. All mediums are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. Side effects of taking this course may include creative abandon, a plethora of ideas, and the fact that nothing will be safe from being added to your design journal. This is an active participation style of learning; the goal is to get you into the flow of designing, embracing the lifestyle and ways of seeing that make this magical process happen! MODULE 1- Developing a Designer’s Eye Love working with Laura's designs, or other designs by your favorite artists, yet feel the urge to create your own? Have ideas but not certain where to start? In this course, which is the first segment of this 5-part series, you'll begin your designing adventures!
