No-Poo Original is a zero-lather, sulfate-free cleanser from DevaCurl made for dry, medium to coarse curls, coils, and spirals that lose moisture with conventional foaming shampoo. Rather than sudsing up, it relies on a creamy base of conditioning agents plus grapeseed and coconut oils to lift dirt, oil, and styling-product residue from the scalp while coating the hair as it cleanses. The cleansing action itself comes from a mild coconut-derived cleanser, which is why the product is massaged into the scalp like a conditioner rather than worked through the ends. The formula carries DevaCurl's Fresh Rose fragrance, built around rose, waterlily, and freesia notes over a citrus opening and a musk-and-woods base. It is formulated without harsh sulfates, silicones, or parabens, and DevaCurl states the product is vegan and gluten-free. It's packaged in a bottle made with 50% recycled ocean-bound plastic. Because there's no foam, first-time users sometimes assume the product isn't cleansing — it is, but it works by conditioning-while-cleansing rather than stripping and re-moisturizing afterward. It is not the fragrance-free version of No-Poo Original; buyers sensitive to fragrance should look for DevaCurl's dedicated Fragrance-Free & Hypoallergenic No-Poo Original instead.
