A very old eating apple. Attractive fruit, stunning deep red. Juicy, sweet, crisp strawberry flavour. Ripens in August. An apple so old it was mentioned by Worlidge in Vinetum Brit tanicum of 1678. The name possibly derives from Carentan, an apple growing region of Normandy. Tolerant of wind and rain and is very popular in Devon where it thrives.
