Early morning in Southern Utah. Cool shade under a canopy of trees, I wasn't looking for this shot. I turned around and there it was — a farrier's hand wrapped around the hoof of his own horse. This man has done this ten thousand times. His hands know exactly what to do without being told. And yet there's nothing mechanical about it. Every movement is deliberate, gentle, and loving. Every movement is for the horse. That's craftsmanship. That's devotion. Not the kind you perform for an audience — the kind you practice alone, in the shade, before anyone else is awake. This print is for the person who understands that the most important work is often the work nobody sees. Printed by hand in my own studio on archival paper rated to last 200 years.
