Dextrose is actually a monosaccharide that is considered a simple sugar. As it is a monosaccharide, it only has the one sugar molecule in it. How does it work? Basically, the primary purpose of dextrose powder, is so that it can be consumed immediately following your workout, along with your protein powder and various amino acids, to assist with recovery. After we exercise, glycogen levels in our muscle cells become depleted, and our cells are completely empty, and have also expanded slightly.
