Dextrose is a 100% fermentable brewing sugar used to fuel fermentation in home brewed beer, cider and spirits. It's the go-to for beginner and extract can brewers — you won't typically need it for all-grain or Fresh Wort Kit brewing — and it also comes in handy for spirit making. During fermentation, yeast consumes the dextrose to produce alcohol — and unlike plain sugar, it adds body and enhances flavour without adding sweetness.
