The “Spaghetti Circus / Untitled Love” 12” originally came out in 2009, a year in the not-too-distant past that feels both deeply recent (Reggie Watts on the track!) but also completely foreign (a world unruined by Instagram). RA named it a top pick for the year, Pitchfork wrote 300 sorta positive words about it, and it got played relentlessly at the Loft, all to say that it crossed some borders in a way that felt genuinely exciting. Here was new disco that wasn’t nu disco. We could all have a real good time together.The a-side is an 8-and-half-minute, pupil-dilating party monster that still commands anthem status in the fog and dark of a 4AM dance floor. The b-side is the slow and sensual comedown, Balearic bliss for when the face hits the pillow or when the sun is out and so are you still.This was Eric Duncan and Olivier Spencer’s last 12” for DFA (don’t worry, we cool) and it’s been out of print since its original pressing.
