This creates a board that’s stronger, more responsive, and performs well in all conditions, not just small or weak waves. The timber stringer acts as a natural dampener, reducing chatter and improving control in bumpy or windy surf. It also adds flex and drive without making the board feel too stiff or reactive. BIAX is a 160g fiberglass cloth that adds durability and controlled flex. It enhances the “pop” of the board while maintaining strength and longevity. Because EPS is more buoyant, Darren has thinned out the rails to help the board bite and engage more easily, especially on rail-to-rail turns.
