In April–May it bears pendent, pure-white, heart-shaped flowers along elegant, arching stems above fresh green, finely divided foliage. Grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well‑drained soil; keep evenly moist in spring. Fully hardy in Ireland, it thrives in light shade and the foliage naturally dies back after flowering before re-emerging the following spring, pairing beautifully with hostas and ferns for soft spring structure. To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height.
