The hat starts with a contrast colour cast on, using a combination of the long-tail and German twisted cast-on methods, before a deep ribbed brim is worked. The piece is then turne d inside out (so that the contrast edge sits correctly). The body of the hat is worked in a simple stranded colourwork pattern, followed by crown shaping.
