Application Instructions for Apex | 5yr Professional Ceramic Coating (50ml) Applying Apex requires meticulous preparation for optimal results and maximum durability. Work in a controlled environment, out of direct sunlight, and ensure surfaces are perfectly clean and decontaminated. This product is designed for professional or experienced enthusiast use. Environment & Safety Precautions: Controlled Environment: Apply in a well-lit, dust-free environment with good ventilation. Ideal temperature is between 60-75°F (15-24°C) with low to moderate humidity. Wear Gloves & Respirator: Always wear chemical-resistant gloves (nitrile recommended) and a respirator or mask to avoid inhaling fumes. Eye protection is also recommended. Adequate Lighting: Use bright, even lighting to spot high spots or uneven application. Test Spot (Recommended): If unsure about a specific paint type or previous correction, test on an inconspicuous area first. Preparation (Crucial for 5-Year Durability): Thorough Wash: Wash the vehicle thoroughly with a pH-neutral car soap (like Neutral) to remove all loose dirt and grime. Chemical Decontamination: Apply an iron remover (if needed) and a tar remover to eliminate embedded contaminants. Rinse thoroughly. Clay Bar Treatment: Perform a complete clay bar treatment to remove any remaining bonded contaminants from the paint surface. This step is critical for proper coating adhesion. Lubricate generously. Paint Correction (Highly Recommended): For optimal results and a "5-year" finish, it is highly recommended to perform paint correction (compounding and polishing) to remove all swirl marks, scratches, and imperfections. The coating will lock in the current state of the paint. IPA Wipe / Panel Prep: After paint correction (or claying if no correction), thoroughly wipe down every panel with an IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) solution (e.g., 15-20% IPA in distilled water) or a dedicated ceramic coating prep spray. This removes all polishing oils, waxes, and residues, ensuring a perfectly clean surface for bonding. Use multiple clean microfiber towels, flipping frequently. Final Inspection: Double-check all surfaces under bright light for any remaining imperfections, dust, or residue. The surface must be absolutely pristine. Application Method: Shake Well: Gently shake the bottle of Apex before opening. Prime Applicator: Wrap a dedicated applicator cloth tightly around the foam block applicator. Dispense 5-8 drops of Apex in a line across the suede applicator to prime it. For subsequent applications, use 3-5 drops. Apply in Small Sections: Work on small sections at a time, typically 2x2 ft or 3x3 ft panels, depending on conditions. Crosshatch Pattern: Apply Apex to the surface using an even crosshatch pattern (horizontal passes, then vertical passes) to ensure uniform coverage. Apply light, even pressure. Observe Flash Time: After application, you will notice the product "flash" or rainbow out within 30 seconds to 2 minutes (depending on temperature and humidity). This indicates the solvent is evaporating and the coating is beginning to cure. Wipe Off Excess / Level: First Wipe: Using a clean, high-quality, short-nap microfiber towel (coating-specific towels are best), gently make your first wipe to remove the majority of the excess product. Second Wipe / Buff: Immediately follow with a second, separate, clean, plush microfiber towel. Gently buff the area to level the coating and achieve a streak-free, crystal-clear finish. Ensure no high spots or streaks are left behind. Inspect Thoroughly: Immediately after buffing each section, inspect the area under bright light from different angles to ensure the coating is perfectly leveled and streak-free. High spots will appear as darker, shiny, or oily areas and must be leveled immediately before the coating cures. If high spots are found, reapply a small amount of Apex to the affected area and immediately level with fresh towels. Continue: Move to the next section, overlapping slightly with the previously coated area, and repeat the application and leveling process until the entire vehicle is coated. Change Applicators/Towels: Change your applicator cloth after every 2-3 panels or if it becomes hard/crusty. Use plenty of fresh microfiber towels throughout the process, as saturated towels can cause streaking. Curing & Aftercare: Initial Cure: Allow the vehicle to cure in a dry, dust-free environment for at least 12-24 hours after application. Avoid any contact with water during this initial curing phase. Full Cure: The coating will continue to cure over the next 7-14 days. During this full cure time, avoid washing the vehicle with harsh chemicals or abrasive methods. Light dust can be gently wiped with a quick detailer if absolutely necessary. Maintenance: After the full cure, wash the vehicle regularly with a pH-neutral car soap (like Neutral). Use EON | Shield or Ceramic Rinse (spray-on sealant) as a drying aid to maintain and boost the coating's hydrophobic properties and extend its lifespan. Avoid abrasive waxes or polishes over the ceramic coating. Storage: Store the Apex bottle tightly sealed in a cool, dark place. Once opened, it has a limited shelf life.
