A solid fourteen carat gold signet ring with a piece of dinosaur bone. This beautiful and quite unique ring is set with a fascinating center stone. The large deep red stone with natural matrices is actually made from dinosaur bone and other jewelry is known as ‘gembone’ (or gem bone) and has been described as one of the most rare and beautiful fossils in the world. Specimens can be traced back to dinosaurs that roamed the earth during the late Jurassic Age around 150 million years ago. The different colors and very unique pattern in gembones are caused by minerals such as chlorite, chromium, iron-oxide and manganese that enter the cells during formation. Each side of the center stone is a floral design adding a handsome decorative elemnt without overbearing the stunning center stone, which is the main feature! The ring is very well made, solid and wears well on the finger. The current finger size is 9.5, but can be sized without issue. Made in America, circa 1950's.
